First Time mum - The freebies

12:00 PM

I am really not sure when being auntie became second nature. Almost as if, another part of me surfaced but the disclaimer is, I have always been a cheapskate - it is definitely a matter of how extreme. Yes, Extreme Cheapskates does rank as one of my favourite series of all time - I mean who can hate saving a buck?

So yes, welcome to the world of stretching my dollar - more so when the expenses ahead are piling. There are a number of mummy websites that have already collated where and what to get - I'm going a step further by also reviewing the items gotten over the span of 2015 and 2016, bummer, I realised at the end of 2015 that certain offers and deals was only applicable to the end of year, should have just waited for the new year and new freebies!

FOR MUMMY

Mummy's milk and baby formula

Dumex
http://www.dumex.com.sg/requestsample

Registration required. Very fussfree, soon there was someone in touch with me to confirm the details and the so-called 4-5 weeks wait for the sample pack to be delivered. And I thought being kiasu and getting these registered in my first trimester would get them delivered by the second timely trimester - but lo and behold, they arrived right at my door step within days?! Very impressive.

The goodie bag contained -
  • A welcome letter (nice touch!)
  • Pamphlet on the range of milk powders available
  • First month cake packages with a promo code for 2016
  • Maternity Shoot deal ending 31 December 2015 (Damn!)
  • Milk powder deals ending 31 December 2015 (Another damn!)
  • Pampers Drypers sample
  • Changing Mat
  • 400g sample of milk powder
Definitely impressed with the lengths and thoughtfulness of the sample pack.

No registration required, just fill in your details for the sample! This arrived as soon as Dumex's!
  • 2 x 40g sachets of S-26 Mama milk powder
  • Unisex socks
The socks were too cute to ignore and officially became the speck's first pair of socks. Teehee!

Friso

4-6 weeks delivery time needed. Methinks they actually took way longer than the stated time. 3 sachets, a number of pre and post natal massage vouchers and a brochure.

Abott Family

Registration required. 3-6 weeks for delivery. This took almost 8 weeks to arrive - I suppose CNY made it longer than necessary.
  • 2 sachets of milk powder
  • A voucher
  • Brochures

Nestle Baby Club
https://www.nestlebaby.com.sg/sg/user/register

Registration required - the setting of password was truly a pain in the ass and I'm not sure how I'd be able to remember such a randomized password either!

Plenty of goodie bags await! Great only if you know the gender of the baby. 4 weeks delivery time needed.

A phonecall also followed up with verification of details and they mentioned calling back in the third trimester too. Nice touch Nestle! In my pink tote were brochures, a nursing blanket and Cetaphil samples since they ran out of supplies.

Another phone call was made in the third trimester to find out if I was taking the mom's milk and some sharing was done on how the milk can be continued after birth to boost supply. Hilarious how the phone call ended with "on a scale of 1-10, would you recommend Nestle's Baby Club to your friends?" And an sms ensued. Uh, not impressed with the over enthusiasm Nestle.
